Construction

There are a few different types of helmet construction that have different effects for the wearer, in this slide we will explain the different types of construction and what they are suited for.

Injection molding is where the outer shell is bonded together with the softer internal liner of the helmet to create a very durable helmet, however this means there are less vents and it is a tad heavier than other helmets however this option is relatively inexpensive and due to its durable nature it is a great choice for beginners.

In mold construction is when a tough outer shell id fused with the inner foam that is designed to absorb any impact, these are much lighter and have better ventilation however they tend to be more expensive and also a tad less durable.

When purchasing a helmet you will want to look at the level of venting in the helmet as this will stop you overheating however it may also be worth looking to see if you are able to plug the vents up as well as sometimes it may be colder than you expect and you may want less ventilation.

You may want to look for google straps or clips on the helmet as this will attach the goggles to the back of the helmet, this will be more comfortable for you as the strap will have no contact with your head.

It is also worth checking if there is any moisture wicking fabric in the helmet as this helps take away any moisture in the helmet making you much more comfortable
